The Story

The story of Carrie is a long one. Ill do my best to be brief while making sure to include those details which make this story great.

I worked at Circuit City. One week I went away on vacation and came back to find a pretty Asian girl had started working in the store while I was gone. Her name was Carrie, she had moved into town a couple weeks before and would be going to school that fall. We initially started dating because of an assumption. Before leaving on vacation I had locked my keys in my car. The experience was an unenjoyable one and was fresh on my mind when one night I saw Carrie clock out, leave the store and then return within a minute or so and get on the phone. I assumed that she had locked her keys in the car. When I had locked my keys in my car I had to beg people that were leaving to drive me up to my parents house to get my spare key. Not wanting Carrie to have to undergo the same ordeal I asked if she needed a ride. She bashedly said that someone was coming to get her.

While it turned out that she hadnt locked her keys in her car, my offer to give her a ride didnt go to waste. A couple days later Carrie asked me for a ride. Though it was about 20 minutes in the opposite direction from my apartment I was happy to drive. These rides home grew more frequent and then one night Carrie and I kissed while we sat on a bench at a playground.

Our dating lasted for about two weeks. Carrie started becoming harder to get in touch with and was increasingly distant when we were together. As best I can recollect we never officially ended things, we just kind of stopped seeing each other.

Several months passed and things were semi-awkward at work. I saw Carrie frequently and wed talk, do crossword puzzles together, and we started to like each other again. When things with Carrie were coming to a boil I was actually in a relationship with a girl Renata (you can see my story of her on here too). Things with Renata had been coming to a close and as soon as Id broken things off with her I started hanging out with Carrie more seriously.

As Carrie and I started spending more time with each other again I began again to give her rides up to her familys house. One Sunday evening we were both headed up to our familys houses (Carries family lived about 5 minutes from mine). I invited Carrie to come get food at my familys house and to my surprise she accepted. By this point in time I had developed a pretty major crush on this girl and was always elated when she agreed to do something with me. After dinner while the plates were being cleared I went to show something on the family computer. While we were sitting next to each other she put her head on my shoulder. It was such a small, simple act, but it put me in heaven. It marked the beginning of our second stint together.

From that night on Carrie and I spent pretty much every free moment together. A couple months later my family and I took another trip together. We were only gone a week, but Carrie and I talked by phone every night and we couldnt stand that we were alone. The day I got back from the trip I went to visit Carrie at work. While I was talking to her I found that I had to restrain myself from blurting out I love you. It was the first time Id felt that strongly for a girl before.

After work Carrie and I met up and decided to go take a relaxing walk. We ended up sitting on a bench outside. Insecure as I was/am I had convinced myself that Carrie no longer liked me and was bound to break up with me that night. After a pause she started, what would you say if I told you I didnt like you anymore? I was crushed. I could feel my heart collapsing in on itself. She continued by saying, because I love you! I dont know that Id passed through a bigger gammit of emotion before and I know I havent since. I was quick to tell her that I loved her to.

So what now?, Carrie asked.

Well, I said, remember when we were joking around about getting engaged? I wouldnt mind if that really happened someday.

Carrie seemed to like the idea and began right there and then the planning process for our wedding. I was a little unprepared for things to happen quite that quickly, but I was happy.

During the next few weeks things were good, but certainly not perfect. There were several rough spots, including a big one when we went to look for rings for the first time. I'm a pretty naturally shy person and don't really enjoy talking to salesmen.
